Admission to GNM in Government Nursing Colleges of Punjab

General Nursing and Midwifery Course (GNM) is a very popular course in nursing. It is a diploma course. It teaches nursing and healthcare in general. The admission process is organized by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab every year for all the 7 Nursing Colleges in government sector.

Application Process for GNM admissions in Punjab

The process usually starts in the last week of June. Students who want to seek admission to GNM need to fill and submit the duly filled application form. It is an online form.

A merit list is released after the application process is over.  The candidates in the merit list are called for counselling round. But, to get admission to the university, applicants should meet the eligibility criteria. In addition, note that the Punjab Nursing Admission Process 2020 will be carried out on the basis of merit.

Eligibility for Punjab GNM Course Admission 

Minimum of 17 years of age 

Maximum 35 years of age on 31st December

Minimum education is 10+2 class passed

First preference to students with Science (PCB) and English in 12th

Minimum marks required are aggregate of 40% marks.

Punjabi is compulsory is up to class 10. 

Other Requirements for Punjab GNM 2020 Admission

One should be medically fit.

Must be a resident of Punjab and should have a resident certificate at counselling.

Instructions about the Resident certificate will be available on the University website.

Reservations of seats for SC/ST, OBC and others will be as per Punjab Government policy.

First Step 

Registration to create an ID and Password

Registration will require the personal details as well as a valid phone number and email address.

Second Step

Log in with your ID and password.

Third Step

Fill up the application form by entering all the required mandatory details.

Fourth Step

Upload scanned images of your photo and signature as per mentioned size and format.

Fifth Step

Check the filled fields for any error.

Take a printout of the application form for any future reference.

Sixth Step

Submit the application form online. 

Seventh Step

After successful submission, candidates will make online payment of the application fee.

If one cannot pay by online method then one can pay by offline method. 

The offline mode is payment through a demand draft. The demand draft (DD) should be for Med Superintendent, Civil Hospital, Jalandhar or Principal, School of Nursing, Civil Hospital,  Jalandhar. The demand should be accompanied by a printed copy of the application form as well the required documents.

Punjab GNM 2020 Application Fee

Usually the application fees is Rs 500/- for all categories. It may change each year.

Application fee for the applicants belonging to the reserved category is Rs 500/-.

One may need to submit the application form along with the demand draft and the attested copies of the necessary documents to School of Nursing, S.B.L.S. Civil Hospital, Jalandhar.

Punjab GNM Merit List Declaration

Punjab GNM Nursing 2020 Merit List is announced on webpage of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. Only merit list candidates will be eligible for admission. 

Merit list is made solely by marks secured by the applicants in the intermediate (10+2) exams.

Punjab GNM Counselling for Admission for 2020

• After the merit list is announced on the website, selected candidates will have to participate in the counselling process. Seats will be allotted to candidates on the basis of merit in this round. 
• The Punjab GNM Counselling usually starts from 1st August to 2nd August 2020. 
• Selected candidates can give their choice of college. 
• All original and attested copies of the required documents will have to be carried by the candidate as documents will be checked for verification.
• Once the process is over, candidates will pay the counselling fees as a demand draft. 
• Then only the selected and verified candidate can get admission in the allotted nursing college.

Annual fees for GNM 2020

All the selected candidates will have to deposit full fee on the day of joining in the form of a Demand Draft favouring Principal of the respective institution. Failure to do so will lead to cancellation of your admission.
