The second prominent institute that offers the 5-year integrated Law Degree is the Army Institute of Law, Mohali (AIL). There are a total of 80 seats available in the Army Institute of Law for B.A. L.L.B out of which 60 are reserved for wards of Army Personnel, 16 for Punjab Residents and 4 for All India Civil Categories. Admission to the 60 seats reserved for wards of Army Personnel and 4 for All India Civil Categories is done through an entrance test. And admissions to the 16 seats reserved for Punjab Residents is based on 10+2 merits, drawn up by the nominated university as per the notification issued by Govt. of Punjab. Apart from these institutes other institutes in the vicinity of Chandigarh that offer the 5-year integrated Law degree around Chandigarh are Chandigarh University, located on the Chandigarh Ludhiana Highway, which is 45 minutes away from Chandigarh and The Rayat Bahra University, Kharar, which is 30 minutes away from Chandigarh. Admission in the said institute can be attained by way of an entrance exam conducted by the University every year, usually in the month of July. The entrance test is of 100 marks consisting of 100 questions from various disciplines such as General Knowledge, Reasoning, English language etc. The final merit of the students for admission is determined on the basis of their performance in the Entrance test combined with their performance in the Graduate course, giving equal weightage of 50% to both. Apart from the Panjab University, the only institutes proximate to Chandigarh that offer the 3-year Law Degree Course are again, the Chandigarh University and the Rayat and Bahara University. Admissions to both these institutes is based on the merit of the candidate in the Graduate course.
