Assam MBBS/BDS admission process explained for 2024


In Assam, admission and counseling process for filling Undergraduate Medical/dental seats is administered by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam. The aim is to fill the 1100 MBBS and 176 BDS seats in the medical and dental colleges of Assam. The admission to these seats will be on the basis on the NEET 2024 score. Out of these seats, 85% seats are state quota seats for which DME, Assam will conduct offline counselling on the basis of scores obtained in NEET UG and 15% are AIQ seats which will be filled by MCC on the basis of NEET 2024 Score.

Admission Process


DME, Assam will publish the state merit list on 29/08/2024 of eligible candidates on the basis of NEET 2024 score for admission to medical and dental seats in Assam.  The merit list includes the name, NEET scores and percentile, NEET rank and state merit rank of candidates who have qualified in medical entrance exam and have a permanent domicile of the state. The students in the merit list are only eligible to fill the application form for the counseling registration.
The application form has been released on 21/08/2024. While filling the application form, applicants have to enter their personal, academic, NEET 2024 details and provide the preferences of colleges as well as courses. The completely filled application form along with relevant documents will be submitted at the time of counseling.

There will be two rounds of counseling followed by a mop up round.

Round-I:

Based on the state merit rank, candidates will be called for the first round of counseling at office of the Director of Medical education, Assam as per the schedule mentioned above.
On the basis of state merit rank, preferences of colleges as well as courses and seats availability, the Assam MBBS admission 2024 will be granted. Aspirants who will be allotted seats must report at the allotted college for final document verification and completion of admission process.

Round-II & Mop up round:

To fill the vacant seats, second round of counseling and mop up round will be done  similar to first round and the Aspirants who will be allotted seats in second round of counseling must also report at the assigned college for document verification and completion of admission process.
