IIT Madras Launches New Online Courses for School Students
After completing their schooling, what should they study next and in which field should they pursue a career? This is a question that leaves almost every student and their parents confused. Often, due to a lack of proper guidance or exposure, students end up choosing from a limited set of options. To resolve this confusion and bridge school education with higher education, the country's prestigious institution, IIT Madras, has launched a brilliant initiative.
Objective of the IIT Madras School Connect Programme
The programme has been specifically designed with students in Years 10, 11 and 12 in mind. Its main objective is to introduce students to the practical world and modern career options, moving away from the standard school curriculum. This initiative by IIT Madras will also give school children in the country's remote areas the opportunity to receive quality education at an IIT level.

- Data Science and AI: A basic introduction to data and artificial intelligence
- Electronic Systems: Introduction to Electronics and Hardware
- Architecture and Design: The Basics of Designing and Building
- Engineering Biological Systems
- Fun with Maths and Computing
- Introduction to Law: A Basic Understanding of Law
- Math Unplugged: Learning Maths Through Games and Puzzles
- Fundamentals of Aerospace Engineering: Space and Aircraft Technology
- Introduction to Ecology: Environment and Ecology
- Humanities Unplugged (Humanities Unplugged)
- Chemical Engineering
- Economics, Finance, and Money Matters: Money management and the economy
- Game Tech Explorers: Gaming technology and human-machine interaction
- Product Design (Product Design)
- Molecular Engineering
- Cyber Security: A Lesson in Security in the Digital World
- Digital Humanities (Digital Humanities)
How Will the IIT Madras School Connect Programme Work?
Students from partner schools will enrol in these courses. Alongside their studies, they will be required to submit assignments and sit online exams. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the exam will be awarded an official “e-certificate” by IIT Madras.
This network of IIT Madras is expanding at a rapid pace. Till date, 4,920 schools from across the country have joined the programme, and more than 175,270 students have registered for it.
