UGC Bans Teaching of Psychology, Health and Allied Subject in Distance and Online Mode

UGC bans teaching of psychology, health and allied subjects online and in distance education. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has banned the conduct of courses related to health and allied subjects (NCAHP Act, 2021) in distance education and online mode. At the 592nd meeting of the UGC, it was decided that subjects such as Psychology, Microbiology, Food and Nutrition Science, Biotechnology, and Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics will no longer be offered in online / ODL mode from July to August 2025. The recognition of higher education institutions which were already allowed will also be withdrawn. However, only those features will be removed from the courses which have multiple subjects, which come under the purview of the NCAHP Act, 2021. In this regard, UGC Secretary Prof. Manish R. Joshi has issued a letter clarifying that, from the next session, admission of students in these subjects will be completely banned.
