UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 Result
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination. A total of 958 candidates have successfully qualified for the exam. These candidates will now be appointed to various government services. As with every year, the most discussed areas are the IAS, IPS, IFS, and IRS, as they are considered among the most important and prestigious services in the country. This time, Anuj Agnihotri performed exceptionally well in the exam, securing an All India Rank of 1.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination recruits officers for various central government services. According to information released by the Commission, this year the government announced recruitment for a total of 1,087 posts across various services. However, the final results show that 958 candidates have been selected, many of whom will be appointed to various services. These positions include the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and various other central services.
How many IAS officers will be selected through UPSC Civil Services Examination 2026 ?
A total of 180 posts have been allocated this year for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), one of the country's most prestigious services. Seats have been allocated for different categories.
Candidates selected for these posts will later be given administrative responsibilities in various states and districts across the country. These officers later serve as District Collectors, Secretaries, and other senior administrative positions.
How many seats for the IPS?
The Indian Police Service (IPS) is one of the country's premier security services. This year, a total of 150 posts have been allocated for the IPS. These posts also have seats allocated for different categories.
These officers are responsible for managing police systems in various states across the country. These officers later rise to higher positions such as Superintendent of Police (SP), Inspector General (IG), and Director General (DGP).
Good numbers in the IFS too
A total of 55 posts have been allocated this year in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Officers of this service represent India abroad and work in embassies and missions in various countries.
Highest Number of Posts in Central Services
In addition to the IAS, IPS, and IFS, Group A of the Central Services has the highest number of posts, at 507. These services include jobs in the IRS, IAAS, IRTS, and several other important departments. Additionally, 195 posts have been designated for Group B services.
Officers selected in these services work in the Income Tax Department, Railways, Accounts Service, Postal Service, and several other central departments. Among these, the IRS (Indian Revenue Service) is considered a very popular service, where officers handle tax and revenue-related work.
