PUBDET 2021 Exam - Dates, Registration, Eligibility, Syllabus, Exam Pattern

Presidency University Bachelor Degree Entrance Test 2021 or PUBDET 2021 is the entrance examination for admission to B.A. (Bengali), B.A. (English), B.A. (Hindi), B.A. (History), B.A. (Philosophy) and other courses. PUBDET 2021 is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

PUBDET for the year 2021 has been announced by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board and will be held from 07/08/2021 to 08/08/2021. The application forms will be available from 19/03/2021 till 08/04/2021. The exam is in written mode. The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes. It is being conducted in English and Bengali languages. Admit card will be available from 02/08/2021. The result date will be announced later.

PUBDET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • There is no upper or lower age limit.

General Academic Qualifications for admission:

(As per latest communications from the concerned university. In case of any revision by the university and intimated to WBJEEB, the same will be notified by the Board)

  • Candidates must have passed (not before 2020) OR appeared (in 2021) in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or any equivalent examination.
  • Candidate must pass any of the aforementioned examinations, with at least five recognized subjects (full marks of each not less than 100), including English language and excluding Environmental Science. The aggregate is to be calculated considering score in best four recognized subjects.
  • Candidates with International 'A' level or International Baccalaureate qualifications must have at least three subjects at the IGCSE level and three subjects at the 'A' level, with English in either of the two levels.
  • The candidate must secure a minimum aggregate score in percentage as per the following table in his/her qualifying examination in 12th standard.

Important information regarding eligibility:

WBJEEB do neither verify the information provided by any candidate during online application nor verify any certificate of date of birth, domicile, income, reservation category, academic qualification etc. for deciding the eligibility of the candidate. Admit cards are issued only on the basis of the information provided by the candidate. Also, normally there is no scope of changing/correcting any information after the last date of on-line application.

All verifications are done during counselling/ provisional admission/ registration by the Board/respective Institute/ respective university under whose jurisdiction the respective Institute belongs to.

If at any stage after examination it is found on scrutiny that the applicant is otherwise ineligible, his/her candidature shall be treated as cancelled even if he/she secured a Merit Rank and/or a seat has been allotted to the candidate.

Hence, securing a Rank does not constitute a right/guarantee in favour of a candidate for his/her claim for admission if he/she fails to comply with the specified norms and standards.

    Application Form Filling Instructions

    Students applying for the PUBDET 2021 have to fill up the application form on the official site. The student can submit the application only once. Multiple forms will be rejected.

    Requirements to be readied before you start filling up the Application Form of PUBDET 2021

    • PC or a Laptop with Internet connectivity
    • Qualification details
    • Soft copy of candidate’s coloured passport size photograph (Maximum 10 to 200 KB in size) in JPG / JPEG format with White Background.
    • Soft copy of candidate’s signature (Maximum 4 to 30 KB in size) in JPG / JPEG format.
    • Functional e-mail Id as all communication are made through email; Parents email id is recommended.
    • Mobile number as all information is sent through SMS too. Parents phone number can be used.
    • For online payments, usually a valid debit or credit card as well as Net Banking facility, Credit Cards and Debit Cards Service is a must.
    • It is recommended to download the information Bulletin Brochure and read it carefully so that you understand various requirements to fill up the form.

    The Usual Steps in filling up the Online Application Form of the PUBDET 2021

    • Step-1: Students have to register for Online Application Form. A login and Password are created.
    • Step-2: Student has to Complete the Application Form and its various sections
    • Step-3: Required documents in the form of Scanned Images of Candidate’s Photograph, Candidate’s Signature.
    • Step-4: Payments have to be made by Cards/ Debit Cards / Net Banking.

    Examination Day Instructions

    Before entering the Exam Centre:

    • Try to reach the exam centre one hour prior to the time advised in the admit card.
    • Before leaving for the site, please have a hearty breakfast or light lunch depending on the session. Drink plenty of fluids; as in summers dehydration can set in affecting your performance in the exam.
    • Have a cookie or a chocolate just before entering the centre; this prevents hypoglycaemia and thus helps you stay alert longer improving your results.
    • If it is a busy centre, then don’t wait till last for the entry and security check.
    • Centre will not allow you to enter after the stipulated time of closing the doors.
    • Admission to the Exam Centre is with the Admit Card; no candidates shall be admitted to the test without the production of the Admit Card at the Test Centre.
    • Usually no bags are allowed.
    • No eatables are allowed.
    • No communication equipment such as mobile phones / pager/ wireless set, scanner, camera or any such electronic / digital gadget etc are allowed in the exam centre; carrying one will lead to disqualification.

    After entering the centre:

    • Once candidates enter the centre, they should locate their designated hall and seat.
    • If mentioned, candidates will be hand frisked as well as photographed or video graphed before entering the centre
    • After all the formalities, candidates should enter the allotted hall and take the designated seat.
    • For Objective Type question papers, rough work is to be done in the space provided for this purpose. No rough work is allowed on the OMR Answer Sheet under any situation.
    • Questions have to be answered on the answer sheet only.
    • Copying, use of unfair means of any kind, talking, asking questions from other candidates or borrowing of material inside the Test Centre is strictly prohibited.
    • The candidates are to return their OMR answer-sheets and the question paper in full to the Centre Superintendent. Tearing or taking away of the question paper is not allowed failing which the candidates shall be disqualified from the entire Entrance Test.

    More Information

    WBJEEB will prepare merit ranks based on the candidates' score in the entrance tests. Individual candidates will be able to view and download his/her Rank Card, which will contain score and rank. WBJEEB does not publish any general ranks / score list.

    • The rank shall be in the name and style of 'GMR' (General Merit Rank)
    • Ranking shall be done in the descending order of marks scored in the entrance test. In case of ties, tie-breaking rules as given in section 2.8 shall be applicable.
    • Separate reserved category merit position will also be indicated for respective category of students e.g. SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PwD Rank as applicable.
    • Counselling / allotment of seat / admission will be done based on GMR only (not on category ranks). Category ranks are only for information to candidates.
    • Category ranks are generated based on the birth category information given by the candidates during online application. If during verification, any candidate's claim is found invalid, his/her category rank will be cancelled and the candidate will be considered in general category with his/her GMR. Category ranks of other candidates will not be revised.

    Tie-breaking Methodology:

    • In case of tie, the candidate obtaining less negative score will have better rank.
    • If tie exists still thereafter, all such candidates will be awarded the same rank and will be considered for counselling and admission with bunching effect.

    PUBDET 2021 Admission Procedure

    Note : The PUBDET-2020 examination and counselling which were to be conducted by WBJEEB stand cancelled due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.
