Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test 2021 or TOEFL iBT 2021 is the entrance examination for admission to TOEFL. TOEFL iBT 2021 is conducted by ETS - Educational Testing Service.
The application forms will be available from 01/01/2021 till 31/12/2021. The duration of the exam will be 180 minutes. It is being conducted in English language. The result date will be announced later.

TOEFL iBT Eligibility Criteria
TOEFL is a language proficiency test that is given by those aspirants who wish to study abroad. There are no specific eligibility criteria for the TOEFL exam prescribed by the ETS, the conducting body. Majorly, it is given by students who wish to get admission in universities, colleges or educational institutions of English speaking countries. Those who have passed out high school or equivalent give this exam. Apart from this, candidates should hold a valid passport to present as proof of identity at the time of the exam.

Before You Register

After You Register
Once your online registration is complete, you'll receive a confirmation email with the test date, start time and test center address. This information is also available via your ETS account. Plan to log in to your account the day before your test to make sure that none of the registration details have changed (for example, a different time or building than originally scheduled).

Syllabus for TOEFL Exam
- Reading
The TOEFL iBT® Reading section is designed to assess how well you can read and understand the kind of materials used in an academic environment. It includes 3 or 4 reading passages, each approximately 700 words long, with 10 questions per passage. You have 54 to 72 minutes to answer all the questions in the section.
Reading passages are excerpts from university-level textbooks that would be used in introductions to a discipline or topic. The passages cover a variety of different subjects. Don't worry if you're not familiar with the topic of a passage. All the information you need to answer the questions will be included in the passage. There is a glossary feature available to define words not commonly used, if you need it.
- Listening
The TOEFL iBT® Listening section is designed to measure your ability to understand conversations and lectures in English. It includes listening for:
- basic comprehension
- pragmatic understanding (speaker's attitude and degree of certainty) and connecting and synthesizing information
There are 2 types of listening items in the Speaking section - lectures and conversations. Both use campus-based language.
- 3 - 4 lectures, each 3–5 minutes long, with 6 questions per lecture
- 2 - 3 conversations with 2 speakers, each 3 minutes long, with 5 questions per conversation
You can take notes on any audio item throughout the test to help you answer questions. You have 41 to 57 minutes to complete the section.
- Writing
The TOEFL iBT® Writing section is designed to measure your ability to write in English in an academic setting, and you're expected to be able to present your ideas in a clear, well-organized manner.
There are 2 writing tasks.
- Integrated writing task (20 minutes) — read a short passage and listen to a short lecture, then write in response to what you read and listened to.
- Independent writing task (30 minutes) — write an essay based on personal experience or opinion in response to a writing topic.
You'll type your responses on a computer keyboard. Responses are sent to ETS, where they are scored by a combination of AI scoring and certified human raters to ensure fairness and quality.
You'll have 50 minutes to complete the Writing section.
- Speaking
The TOEFL iBT® Speaking section is designed to measure your ability to speak English effectively in academic settings. It is composed of 4 tasks that resemble real-life situations you might encounter both in and outside of a classroom.
- Question 1 is called an "independent speaking task" because it requires you to draw entirely on your own ideas, opinions and experiences when you respond.
- Questions 2–4 are called "integrated speaking tasks" because they require you to combine your English-language skills — listening and speaking, or listening, reading and speaking — just as you would in or out of a classroom.
You'll get 15–30 seconds of preparation time before each response, and your response will be 45 or 60 seconds long.

Examination Day Instructions
Before entering the Exam Centre
- Try to reach the exam centre one hour prior to the time advised in the admit card.
- Before leaving for the site, please have a hearty breakfast or light lunch depending on the session. Drink plenty of fluids; as in summers dehydration can set in affecting your performance in the exam.
- Have a cookie or a chocolate just before entering the centre; this prevents hypoglycaemia and thus helps you stay alert longer improving your results.
- If it is a busy centre, then don’t wait till last for the entry and security check.
- Usually no bags are allowed.
- No eatables are allowed.
- No communication equipment such as mobile phones / pager / wireless set / scanner / camera or any such electronic / digital gadget etc are allowed in the exam centre; carrying one will lead to disqualification.
After entering the centre
- The test administrator will assign you a seat shortly before the test begins.
- You'll be given noise-reducing headphones with a microphone that you'll speak into for the Speaking section of the test.
- If you need help, raise your hand.
- You won't be able to leave the testing room or the test center without permission, either during the test or during breaks.
- If you leave the testing room to go to the storage area or the rest room, the test clock won't stop.
- The test center staff will provide scratch paper. At the end of your test, return all scratch paper to the test administrator. Don't tear or remove any part of it. You can ask for more paper if you need it, but you have to return the paper you have before you can get more.
- You'll use a standard QWERTY English-language keyboard for the test. In some countries, the common keyboard used is configured to QWERTY and a template is provided to each test taker to help with locating the few keys that are in a different location.

Cancelling Your Scores
- At the end of the test, your Reading and Listening sections are scored instantly. These unofficial scores can give you an idea of how you did on the test.
- You will then have the choice to report or cancel your scores. Consider this carefully! This is your only opportunity to cancel your scores. When making your decision, keep in mind:
- You have to cancel all section scores if you wish to cancel. You can't cancel 1 section and have other section scores reported.
- If you cancel your scores, you won't receive a refund.
- There is no fee to cancel your scores, but there is a fee to reinstate them.
- Cancelled scores aren't reported to you or to any institution or agency.
