CBSE Class 10th SST Preparation Tips For 2021 Exam

2020 has been a tough year for all of us and especially the students. With everything shifting online students lost the enthusiasm and motivation to keep on going and study effectively. With the pandemic continuing to take over our lives and forcing us to stay indoors many lost the zeal and excitement of the next day and grew lazy and procrastinators.

But it's no time to remain in the same shoes especially if you are a 10th or 12th student. The board exams are not too far now the CBSE board have announced that the exams will be conducted between 4th of May till 10th of June.

Practical subjects like maths and science are still bearable. At least I stay awake but what about theory papers like Social science where a class 10th student has to complete four books to score good grades in their final board exams. If you feel the same then probably some of the below tips might help you to buckle up and achieve your desired score in the social studies exam.

Social studies is a theory based subject where we have to learn about the history, the political front, Geography and Economics. There are dates, figures, names, places, maps which have to be done by heart.

Let's change the perspective, go through sst as if you are going through a story. Make one liner notes as you read.

There will be :

20 objective type questions 1 Mark Each
8 Short type Questions  3 marks each
6 Long Answer type question  5 marks each
1 MAP WORK

20 one markers in order to score marks in them you have to read in between the lines, also read the text written below the pictures in the textbook.

You should read it as a story, in the format of an old story and make questions for yourself in every aspect. This will allow you to not mugg up the answers word to word but actually learn in all aspects and remember everything in a chronological order.
Rotate your study pattern. If you are doing only SST and you believe you will finish it in 15-20 days then that will be not effective. You will keep forgetting and then you have to revise. This way you might miss out on your other subjects. You should have a proper study pattern and define your material. Since SST is of more importance to you and causes worry, include more of SST in your time table but ensure break times and other subjects. We should not study one subject for over 2 hours in a stretch. It reduces our productivity and then you will do less than half of what you have planned.
Practice from previous year papers and sample papers issued by the board. In 10 year you will find a mixed set of important questions. Chapter wise as well as mixed bags in the form of paper are also there. There are one marker and long answer type. A candidate must definitely go through them as they finish one topic from NCERT and highlight the points which are important and cannot be missed. Keep revising these points over and over again.
Practice maps as and when they come, don’t skip them to the end. There are over 10-12 maps in class 10th. The candidate should remember the story and chronology and then attempt the map questions. Use colours, shapes to remember the places, dates and time.
Make flashcards and use acronyms to remember points to be mentioned in the answer and also for places in maps. These acronyms can be anything you can relate and remember like movie names, celebrity names, your own friends and family name or any area which interests you.
Speak out loud as you study. This technique can be followed in a lot of your other papers as well where you have to mug up answers. As you speak out loud you retain more and remember for a longer time.
