Himachal Pradesh MBBS and BDS Counselling 2025

Himachal Pradesh is a hilly state and is considered one of the most beautiful areas of the world. People of Himachal are very enterprising and hard-working. Almost all children in the state are being educated. A lot of students in Himachal take the NEET exam for admission to medical and dental colleges. The last few years have seen many new medical colleges coming up in the state.

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla is the conducting authority for HP MBBS/BDS 2025 admission. Only the aspirants who will fulfill all the eligibility criteria set by the authority will be eligible for admission to HP MBBS/BDS 2025.

Seats for MBBS and BDS in Himachal

On the basis of scores obtained in NEET UG 2025, students will be granted admission to 870 MBBS and 355 BDS seats in medical and dental colleges under 85% state quota seats in Himachal Pradesh. While the remaining 15% seats from all government MBBS and BDS colleges will be reserved for students selected under All India Quota. These AIQ seats will be filled by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) based on the NEET 2025 marks obtained.

Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants seeking admission to HP MBBS/BDS 2025 must be an Indian citizen.

Candidates must be at least 17 years old in age as on December 31, 2025.

Students must be having domicile of Himachal Pradesh in order to be eligible for HP MBBS/BDS  admission 2025.

In case of management quota seats, students who are not having domicile of Himachal Pradesh are also eligible to apply for HP MBBS/BDS admission 2025.

All the bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh whose parents are posted outside the state for All India Services can also appear for HP MBBS/BDS admission.

Candidates belonging to the general category must secure at least 50% in Class 12th taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English. Aspirants from SC/ST/OBC must obtain minimum 40% in Class 12th or equivalent examination.

In addition to this eligibility, students have to qualify NEET 2025 to get admission in medical college.

Admission Criteria for Govt. and private medical & dental colleges in Himachal Pradesh

For all 15% AIQ seats, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct online counselling on the basis of NEET UG scores to all government medical and dental colleges.

For all 85% state quota seats, State authority, HPU organises counselling for admission to MBBS and BDS colleges based on NEET state rank.

For MBBS and BDS colleges, HPU will conduct the offline counselling as per the state merit rank derived from NEET scores 2025 for admission to HP MBBS/BDS 2025.

For Deemed and central universities, online counselling will be conducted by MCC for admission to medical and dental seats offered.

Steps of Counselling and Joining

The candidates will need to register themselves on the official website of HP University for filling up the application form which has been started from  19/07/2025 and will be closed by  02/08/2025 05:00 pm. For successful submission of HP MBBS/BDS application form 2025, one must follow the below procedure:

Online Registration: For HP MBBS/BDS registration 2025, candidates need to enter their asked personal details such as name, date of birth, gender, email ID, mobile number, category, nationality among others.

Submission of academic and other basic details:  Thereafter, the academic details like Class 10th and 12th board Exam details, marks obtained in the asked subjects along with the NEET UG 2025 marks and All India Rank must be entered. Other basic details like permanent address, correspondence address, domiciles status etc.

Uploading of images and documents: Once all the relevant details are submitted in the HP MBBS/BDS application form 2025, candidates have to upload their passport size photograph and signature as specified by the authority.

Payment of HP MBBS/BDS application fee 2025: In the final step towards the submission of HP MBBS/BDS 2025 application form, applicants have to pay the registration fees. The payment of the below-mentioned amount should be done in online mode using credit/debit cards and net banking.

Final submission and printout of confirmation page: After the successful payment of application fees, the confirmation page of online HP MBBS/BDS application form 2025 will be generated on the screen. Candidates must take a printout of the confirmation page for future references.

Round-I :

After the NEET UG 2025 registration and details filling, the merit list of HP MBBS/BDS 2025 will be released on 14/08/2025 on the basis of NEET 2025 score. The state rank includes the name of candidates, All India Rank, NEET roll number, father’s name, category, marks in NEET result 2025, domicile status and date of counselling.

Only the candidates included in the state merit list will be eligible to participate in HP MBBS/BDS counselling 2025. Candidates will be required to report to the specified venue on the scheduled date and time with all the relevant documents for the seat allotment process.

At the counselling venue, the selected students need to provide their choices of colleges and courses. Based on the provided preferences, HP MBBS /BDS state merit rank and seats availability, the admission to HP MBBS/BDS 2025 will be granted and the documents will be verified accordingly.

Round-II :

Thereafter, the authority will conduct the second round of counselling as per the schedule mentioned above to fill the remaining seats left vacant.

In case of any other seats left vacant after the first and second round of counselling, the authority will organise a mop-up round.

After the final allotment, candidates can pay the annual fee and download the admission ticket from the concerned website.

Round-III: The authority will conduct the third round of counselling as per the schedule mentioned above to fill the remaining seats left vacant.
