Combined Graduate and Post Graduate Courses: Integrated Courses in India

Integrated Degrees are the new trend for degrees in India. These allow students to complete both the bachelor’s degree as well as the master’s degree without the need to give separate entrance examinations. There are many integrated courses available in some of the major colleges and universities.

These courses include an Integrated BTech and MTech, Integrated BBA and MBA, Integrated BTech and BA LLB, among others. These courses take a lot less time to pursue compared to the average duration of graduate and post-graduate degrees, however, they cannot be completed without sacrificing the value of holding two degrees. This means that on completion, you will be awarded with only one degree instead of two. This can be a deal breaker for some, while it can leave others confused. Hence, this article has some tips to help you decide:

Saves One Year

One year may not sound like a lot at first, however, the advantage that finishing your post-graduation before your peers provides is immense. You get to join the workforce a year earlier than others and also to complete the experience requirement from your first job. This will allow you to get promoted faster than others and show more success in your career.

Allows More Experience

The fact that you will be able to complete two degrees in 5 years is astounding for most companies. This is shows them that you are willing and able to work hard for what you desire in life. And hard work is always appreciated, because of which you will receive better job offers after your graduation.

You Can Study More

If you are interested in pursuing a doctorate after your course completion, you will be at an advantage over most others. You will still be used to studying while others would be used to working. This will give you an edge over them in the competitive exams and your doctorate too.

Gives One Degree

The one disadvantage of an integrated degree is that it gives you only one degree, not two. This means the value of both degrees is affected a little. This may initially cause some companies to not hire you, but you can make up for that after your first year in the workforce.

This shows both the advantages and disadvantages of integrated degrees. You can use this to decide if Integrated Degrees are for you or not.
