AICTE has revoked its decision in which it was stated that Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are not mandatory for architectural courses. CoA has now confirmed that PCM(Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) in class XII is mandatory for applying for B.Arch. AICTE released their “Approval Process handbook 2022-23" on March 29, 2022. In this handbook, AICTE stated that Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, PCM will not be mandatory in Class 12 for admissions into three courses – Architecture, Fashion Technology and Packaging Technology. After a few days of the release of the handbook, the council issued a clarification that Architecture had been erroneously put under the list of subjects that do not require mandatory PCM.
The AICTE Approval Process Handbook now reflects that for Bachelors in Architecture admissions, the entry-level qualifications will be “as per the norms of Council of Architecture”. The final eligibility criteria for B.Arch. admissions will be decided by CoA now, not AICTE. National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2022 is the entrance examination for admission to B.Arch.. NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture.
