Cochin University of Science and Technology Common Admission Test for Post Graduation 2021 or CUSAT CAT 2021 is the entrance examination for admission to M.Sc. (Integrated), MCA, MCA (Lateral Entry), M.A. (Applied Economics), M.A. (Hindi literature) and other courses. CUSAT CAT 2021 is conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerela.

CUSAT CAT for the year 2021 has been announced by Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerela and will be held from 16/07/2021 to 18/07/2021. The application forms will be available from 10/03/2021 till 15/04/2021. The exam is in online mode. It is being conducted in English language. The result date will be announced later.

CUSAT CAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

B.tech
  • Pass in Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects securing a separate minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
B.Tech. Lateral Entry
  • Any three year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks. The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the current academic year.
  • Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination
B.Voc.
  • Students with a total of 65% mark or equivalent CGPA in Plus Two or any equivalent examination conducted by recognised Boards with Mathematics / Statistics as one of the Subjects. 
  • Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
  • SEBC candidates of Kerala State who are certified as belonging to non-creamy layer are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for qualifying  examination.
M.Sc. (Integrated)
  • Pass in Plus Two examination of the State of Kerala with Mathematics, Physics
    and Chemistry as optional subject or any other examination accepted as
    equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50%
    marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together
BBA.LLB/ B.Com.LLB
  • At the time of admission the candidate should have passed plus two examination with at least 60% marks including languages in Science group/Commerce group or with at least 55% marks including languages in Arts/Humanities stream.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities or belonging to SEBC communities with a pass in the plus two examination with 50% percent marks are entitled to seek admission. 
LL.B.
  • The candidate shall have a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate of the qualifying
    degree examination.
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are eligible for 5% relaxation in qualifying marks
LL.M.
  • Pass in Bachelor’s Degree in Law with 55% marks from any University of Kerala or an
    examination of any other University accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto.
MCA
  • Any Science graduate with Mathematics as one of the subjects or graduate in Electronics / Information Technology/Computer Science / Computer Applications/ Engineering Technology with aggregate 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
MCA (Lateral Entry)
  • Recognized regular Bachelor Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Computer Applications / Computer Science and Engineering of minimum three year duration with aggregate 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. 
M.A.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics with 55% marks in part III (Economics and Subsidiaries) or 60% marks with B.Com, BBA, BBM with Economics as one of the subjects or B.Sc. Mathematics or Statistics with 65% marks. 
M.Sc.
  • B.Sc. degree with
    Mathematics main with at least 55% marks for
    optional subjects taken together
Master of Fisheries Science
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries / Food Technology / Food Science / Food Microbiology /Biochemistry/ Zoology with at least 55% marks in the optional subjects. Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries includes Industrial Fisheries / Aquaculture / Fishery Science /Industrial Fish and Fisheries / B.F.Sc. (Nautical Science). Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology / Food Science includes B.Tech / B.E. / B.Sc. in Food Science and Technology / Food Science and Management /Food Science / Food Technology /Food processing Technology / Food Science and Quality Control.
M.Voc
  • Engineering graduates with 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in the branches of Information Technology / Computer Science / Electronics & Communication or Graduates with 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA) in Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology / Electronics / Software Development or Graduates with B.Voc degree in relevant disciplines with 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA)
M.Tech.
  •  B Tech or equivalent degree or AMIE/AMIETE in the branch of Computer Science or Information Technology or Electronics & Communication, or MCA with a first class (60% marks) applicable to all the above, from any recognized University or Institution.  
  • A valid GATE score in the subject ‘Computer Science & Information Technology’

    Application Form Filling Instructions

    STEP 1 – Registration:

    Click “NEW CANDIDATE REGISTRATION” button and submit details. All fields are mandatory. After submitting the details, an activation link will be sent to the email address provided by the candidate. Email account once used/activated will not be used again. On clicking the activation link (obtained in the email inbox), the user account will be activated. The user name will be candidate’s email address. Please note that password must have at least 8 Characters and contain at least one Capital letter, one number and one special character. For example Cat

    STEP 2 – Personal Details and Reservation

    Read instructions carefully. Then click Start Registration button. Fill all the  Personal details required in the form. In case of any doubt, please read the relevant part of the prospectus once again. If a Candidate wishes to claim any special reservation, the same is to be selected in the left list box and move to the right box using ‘select’ button. For the Keralite status related information, refer clause 15.2 of the Prospectus. For details regarding NRI reservation, refer clause 15.5 of the Prospectus. For information regarding Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CGW), refer clause 15.6 of the prospectus. 

    Please note that special reservations need not be available to all courses. Details of special reservations available for each course are specified in the prospectus.

    STEP 4 – Course Selection:

    Select the programme or combination of programmes from the dropdown list.  For example, if the candidate wish to appear for undergraduate course like B.Tech / Integrated MSc / BBA LL.B / B.Com LL.B / B Voc programmes, they need to select Undergraduate Programme. For those candidates who wish to apply for Postgraduate programmes and MBA, the selection of course should be  accordingly

    STEP 5 – Short Preview:

    After submitting course details, a short preview will be available. Candidate  should check the short preview carefully. In case any change, go to the required page, make corrections and save changes. 

    Please note that after confirming short preview, editing will not be allowed.

    STEP 6 – Payment

    After confirming the preview online payment is to be made. Payment can be  made through all Credit / Debit Cards or Net banking of almost all Banks.

    STEP 7 – Centre selection

    After successful completion of payment, the list of available centres will be  displayed. The candidate should select one of the test centres where seats are available. 

    In the case of MBA and M Tech applicants, there will not be any separate Common Admission Test by CUSAT.

    After Centre Selection a final preview will be displayed and the candidate can go  to his / her home page. Then wait for confirmation from the University. It may take at least two working days. After the approval candidate can download the confirmation page from the candidate home page. The status of candidate’s application can be viewed from the candidate home page.

    Examination Day Instructions

    Before entering the Exam Centre:

    • Try to reach the exam centre one hour prior to the time advised in the admit card.
    • Before leaving for the site, please have a hearty breakfast or light lunch depending on the session. Drink plenty of fluids; as in summers dehydration can set in affecting your performance in the exam.
    • Have a cookie or a chocolate just before entering the centre; this prevents hypoglycaemia and thus helps you stay alert longer improving your results.
    • If it is a busy centre, then don’t wait till last for the entry and security check.
    • Centre will not allow you to enter after the stipulated time of closing the doors.
    • Admission to the Exam Centre is with the Admit Card; no candidates shall be admitted to the test without the production of the Admit Card at the Test Centre.
    • Usually no bags are allowed.
    • No eatables are allowed.
    • No communication equipment such as mobile phones / pager/ wireless set, scanner, camera or any such electronic / digital gadget etc are allowed in the exam centre; carrying one will lead to disqualification.
    • Handbag / Carry bag/ Mobile phone / calculator /watch/any other electronic gadget or any paper (other than the Admit Card) shall not be allowed inside the Test Hall/Room and the University shall not be responsible for its safekeeping. If a candidate is found in possession of any such item during the Test, he/she would be deemed to have used unfair means and may lead to cancellation of his/her candidature.

    After entering the centre:

    • Once candidates enter the centre, they should locate their designated hall and seat.
    • If mentioned, candidates will be hand frisked as well as photographed or video graphed before entering the centre
    • After all the formalities, candidates should enter the allotted hall and take the designated seat.
    • For Objective Type question papers, rough work is to be done in the space provided for this purpose. No rough work is allowed on the OMR Answer Sheet under any situation.
    • Questions have to be answered on the answer sheet only.
    • Copying, use of unfair means of any kind, talking, asking questions from other candidates or borrowing of material inside the Test Centre is strictly prohibited.
    • The candidates are to return their OMR answer-sheets and the question paper in full to the Centre Superintendent. Tearing or taking away of the question paper is not allowed failing which the candidates shall be disqualified from the entire Entrance Test.
    • Misbehaviour of any kind can lead to expulsion of the candidate.
    • Caught copying helping in copying will mean cancellation of the answer sheet/cancellation of the candidature.
    • Marking the answer sheet or question paper in any way will also lead to cancellation of the exam for that candidate.
